Laminate flooring in Barnsley

The look of a wooden floor without the price or the upkeep. We'll bring a range of laminate boards to your home and fit them with underlay and scotia for a clean finish.

Why laminate

Wood looks, easy living

Laminate is simple to keep clean, stands up well to everyday wear and gives a lounge or hallway a fresh, modern look. It's a popular choice for people moving away from carpet downstairs.

Thickness matters. Most laminate is between 6mm and 12mm; a 10mm or 12mm board feels more like real wood underfoot, while 7mm or 8mm can work well on a smooth subfloor if you're watching the budget.

How we fit laminate

  1. Check the subfloor

Laminate needs a flat base. If yours isn't, we'll screed or ply-board it first.

  2. Lay the underlay

Underlay goes down first for comfort, sound reduction and a longer-lasting floor.

  3. Fit and finish

The boards are laid, then scotia goes round the edges and door plates are fitted at the thresholds.

Barnsley laminate questions

Is AC4 laminate tough enough for a family with dogs?

AC4 is a hard-wearing grade of laminate suited to busy family homes, and it's the grade used in our laminate house deals. Keeping claws trimmed and wiping up wet paws quickly will help any laminate look its best.

What thickness of laminate should I choose?

Laminate is usually 6–12mm thick. For a solid, real-wood feel go for 10mm or 12mm; 7mm or 8mm can be fine if the subfloor is smooth and cost matters.

Should I lay laminate in my bathroom or stick to vinyl?

For rooms that get properly wet we'd usually recommend vinyl or LVT instead. Laminate is best in lounges, dining rooms, halls and bedrooms.
